Sushant Singh Rajput was not only a young, upcoming, and highly talented actor but also a great human being. Through his sheer will and hard luck, he has attained great heights in his career. He has given many spellbinding performances through his career which has made millions of viewers his fan. Not only that he has been a great actor and a talented dancer, but he has also been a great role model for today’s youth.
Belonging to an academics oriented family he had secured a scholarship to Stanford University and was also a national Olympiad winner in Physics. From the way his life was progressing, it seemed that he was destined for great heights in his life. But this is when it happened. The performance bug and love for the stage and the screen hit him, and the direction in which his life was headed took a different and unexpected turn.
Sushant Singh Rajput childhood and academic background:
While he was still studying at Delhi College of Engineering, he joined Shiamak Davar’s dance class, and his talent and affinity towards dancing started coming out. He proved to be a natural artist. Because of his ability, he soon started gaining a lot of attention. While he was still working on his dancing skills, his social circle of fellow dancers introduced him to Barry John’s drama classes. The idea of learning drama sounded interesting to Sushant, so he joined the drama classes and soon developed a taste for it. He mentions “I found the experience liberating. I realized that I could communicate with the audience. I knew I wanted to do this forever.”. After he has found his new passion, there was no turning back.
His journey into the world of dance:
Soon after he had joined the dance class, he was selected in a group to perform in 51st Filmfare Awards held in 2005. After this, he performed in the cultural program in 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Australia. With his newfound passion and taste of glamour, he has already lost his interest in becoming an engineer. His academic performance dropped drastically as he lost all interest in academics. Following his dreams of acting and dance, Sushant quit engineering after finishing three out of four years. He wanted to do what he was good at. He started looking for a way to enter the acting industry and soon moved to Mumbai to pursue his dreams.
Sushant’s journey to and in Mumbai – the city of dreams:
Once he landed in Mumbai – the city of dreams, he joined Nadira Babbar’s Ekjute theatre group and started acting in plays. He continued his tryst with Drama and Ekjute theatre group for around two and a half years and learned all he possibly could. He learned the nuances of acting and honed his skills which he will need further in his life. During this time, he also got a chance to do a TV advertisement for Nestle India, which got quite popular though out the country.
The Big Break of Sushant Singh Rajput:
His first big break came as a supporting cast member in the Star Plus TV shows Kis Desh Mai Hai Meraa Dil (2008). As it happened, the casting team of Balaji Telefilms saw him on the stage while he was acting in one of Ekjute’s play and instantly liked his personality and skills. He was given a supporting role which was a short stint. But this actor made such a strong impression, that his character was brought back for the show’s finale.
Sushant’s appearance on the Small Screen:
When he took to the world of glamour, he soon found his way to the small screen and gained a lot of popularity. At only 34 years of age, he had already climbed his way from an engineering student who came from a small town, to become one of the new daring actors who were to carry on the torch of Bollywood.
His first starring role came in the 2009 TV show Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV. The Ekta Kapoor produced show helped launch him to success, his acting skills in portraying the titular character of Manav Deshmukh helped him earn widespread fame as well as scoop up three major television awards for the best male actor. With his first significant role, he had already rocked the industry and left a powerful impression.
Sushant Singh Rajput and his Dance competitions:
Sushant Singh Rajput also participated in several dance shows to help showcase and hone his dancing skills. He was a part of Zara Nachke Dikha 2, and Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa 4, both in the same year. He had a voracious appetite for work, as he participated in these shows while still playing the lead in the TV show Pavitra Rishta. He finally decided to leave the show in 2011 and pursue a film-making course abroad.
He has also performed as a background dancer with Bollywood actor and actress. I found a video in which he was performing with Bollywood Diva Aishwarya Rai as you can see in the below:
Despite the fact that he has proved his worth as an excellent actor with his stellar performances, his childhood dream was to be an astronaut or a fighter pilot. His dream was very befitting for somebody whose family was involved in academics, but as it seems now, life had different plans for him.
Transition to Bollywood:
Sushant Singh Rajput was a very talented and one of the rare and few television actors to leap to the silver screen successfully. His Bollywood debut was in 2013 in Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che!, where he shared screen space with Amit Sadh and Rajkumar Rao. The movie based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel was a resounding success and catapulted Rajput into the limelight on the back of his riveting performance of Ishaan Bhatt. He was nominated for his amazing performance for the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

After he has started his career and made such a lasting impression on the audience and filmmakers alike, there was no stopping him. He starred in a romantic comedy called Shuddh Desi Romance followed by a very dramatic role of a detective in Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. His days of drama classes were paying off. After starring in a few movies, he did a supporting role in a very high grossing and poplar movie PK. This turned out to be his best movies if we consider the business his films did follow by the biopic M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. After giving some spectacular performances in highly acclaimed movies, he also had a run with commercially successful movies like Kedarnath in 2018 and Chhichhore in 2019. Recognizing his talent and influence on the youth of the country, NITI Ayog – the policy-making think tank of the Indian Government also signed him to promote their initiative of empowering women, Women Entrepreneurship Platform which is a very high form of recognition.
He had recently finished filming the movie ‘Dil Bechara‘ which is a romantic coming of an age drama movie. This movie is based on John Green’s book called The Fault in Our Stars which was published in 2012. The film was supposed to be released earlier this year. Due to productional delays and the impact of COVID-19, the launch of the movie has delayed a few times, which has come as a heartbreak for this young and charming actor.
Sushant’s involvement with Society:
Sushant Singh Rajput was not only a phenomenal actor but also a very humble human being. He not only worked towards making a name for himself but also to inspire and help young students. Sushant was actively involved with various programs like Sushant4Education, wherein he had taken multiple initiatives to inspire the importance of education in young minds.
In a world where the big screen has been inspiring the culture of hooligans, drug addiction, and whatnot, Sushant tried to neutralize this negative impact by inspiring today’s youth. He put constant efforts in spreading awareness about education. He was of the view that education doesn’t only help you to attain a professional degree, but it helps you by changing your complete perspective. He understood that education helps an individual in making better decisions in life.
This is the reason why he had selected two counselors with the sole objective of counseling students. He wanted to make the youth and especially the students aware about the available occupations and possible opportunities. He has been reaching out to various principals and institutions to do partnerships and start different counseling programs.
Despite the fact he dropped out himself from engineering by only completing a fraction, of course, the value of education was not lost on him. Sushant has received his ideas from his mother, who was also a great visionary and had inspired him to achieve great heights.
Sushant’s personal life:
Sushant was born to Mr. Krishna Kumar Singh and Usha Singh in a town called as Patna in the state Bihar. His ancestral roots lie in Purnia district of Bihar. He has been very proud of his sisters through-out his life. Mitu Singh, one of his sisters, is a state-level cricketer. Sushant lost his mother in 2002, which left him devasted. This is the same year when his family moved from Patna to Delhi.
Sushant has also enjoyed a very happy personal life over the years. He was attached to his former co-star Ankita Lokhande for over six years in a very publicized romantic relationship. The couple had been very active socially and had been seen making performances together in many award shows and functions. After six years of a long relationship, they had to part ways. After his relationship with Ankita, he was alleged to be in contact with Kriti Sanon and Rhea Chakraborty.
While there was a long life ahead of him, Sushant left us in a tragedy😥. The news of this actor who has been an apple to many eyes had left this world by hanging himself left his a great many fans dejected and sad. Millions expected him to produce scores of highly entertaining and inspiring movies in the coming year. Still, unfortunately, his soon to release film ‘Dil Bechara‘ will be the last time when we will see him on the big screen.
He leaves Us very early!
As soon as people closer to him say that we were depressed and sad, but the real reason for his suicide is still unknown. The police are probing into this case and questioning all of his close friends and family about his mental state.
There were a few controversies that involved Sushant, but he didn’t seem to be very affected by it. He had a positive outlook towards life which was all that mattered. There have been some speculations that Sushant didn’t have work to sustain himself, but that is just speculations for now. Some people say that days before he committed suicide, he had told his house servants that he wouldn’t be able to pay them anymore after clearing their dues.
This sad early demise of this handsome individual has again put the movie industry into the limelight. There have been some cases in the entertainment industry in the past where actors and other entertainment industry professionals have committed suicide owing to depression. But no matter, what is the reality that lies behind the sad demise of such a charming and talented actor, the fans of Bollywood will surely miss him. He has been a splendid entertainer and a very inspiring role model for the youth. He has enjoyed the taste of success and fame, which is a dream for many. He was a fun-loving, kind-hearted, and good human being. RIP😥🙏
